Business Overview 

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) puts a huge emphasis on employee relationships. Despite being one of the larger and better-known charities, they are still bound by financial constraints and the ongoing universal challenge of motivating and engaging their staff. Hence, CRUK has always had to be more innovative with the way that they reward and motivate their team. Not only that, but CRUK has loyal dedicated staff who often go far above and beyond what is expected of them, because they feel so passionately about the organisation. 

CRUK wanted to be able to reward these efforts by offering their staff a bespoke employee discount portal, housing thousands of discounts and benefits.

The challenge 

To replace the existing CRUK Employee Discounts - voluntary benefits provision with a new online and telephone service, improving the voucher range, user experience, with demonstrable evidence of greater usage and spend. 

To manage CRUK’s employee expectations as they were asked to move from existing solutions to a new platform, with careful planning of staff communications so as to ensure as smooth a transition, with clarity over how the new service would differ from the previous programme, bringing additional benefits. 

To link the portal through to the organisation’s other staff benefits schemes (salary sacrifice, pension etc.) so that the platform offers greater visibility of all other available employee benefits and programmes – with a view to increasing take-up across the full suite of schemes.

The solution 

The creation of a bespoke, fully branded employee engagement platform, housed within a next generation integrated portal and underpinned by its unique online and telephone concierge service that can be accessed at work, at home or on the go. 

This portal offers CRUK’s employees over 3,000 discounts including online and instore, cashback, shopping cards and vouchers for lifestyle, health and wellbeing products and services as well as leading high street retailers. Its concierge service provides last minute tickets to the most in-demand sports, arts and entertainment events across the UK as well as restaurant bookings, flights and hotel rooms.

Member Loyalty

Our client is a leading membership body in the UK with a member base comprising mass affluent to affluent professionals. As savvy consumers they have had access to other member benefit packages but these were not particularly successful. On the recommendation of an existing client, the membership body engaged Xexec to work on implementing key retention tools.
