The Challenge 

Colt approached Xexec to develop a comprehensive employee recognition programme that would support the organisation’s vibrant and exciting culture by effectively engaging its diverse international workforce.

The objectives of the recognition programme were to strengthen engagement, increase motivation, and improve Colt’s employee experience by rewarding the Colt values and behaviours that are vital to the business.  

Moreover, Colt required a scheme that could be delivered on an international scale, rolling out to more than 5,000 employees operating across dozens of countries.

The Solution 

Xexec created Colt Inspire, an award-winning online employee recognition portal, to make it quick and easy to recognise great work, simplify processing, and generate high levels of engagement amongst global staff. The programme was designed to mimic many aspects of a social media platform, with functions such as newsfeeds and the ability to tag in employees showing exemplary behaviour. In response to the international footprint of the organisation, Xexec developed a multi-currency programme, incorporating cost-of-living index calculators alongside local country redemption catalogues with retail vouchers and multi-currency prepaid cards. 

Features such as enabling Colt Core employees to cross nominate Colt DCS employees and vice versa, as well as contractors having the ability to sign up to the portal to send and receive ecards, has had a huge impact and helped Colt feel more connected, especially during 2020 where working remotely has become the norm. Not only this, Xexec and Colt have collaborated together to offer a combination of monetary and non-monetary awards that are fully aligned to Colt’s new 2020 recognition strategy. For example, all awards are directly linked to Colt’s values – Transformational, Outcome Focused, Accountability, Customer First. 

The Outcome 

The platform has enabled staff members to recognise and reward each other’s contributions with ease on a global basis, making employees across the world feel part of a team and ensuring their achievements are recognised. After just three months of the scheme going live there was a huge increase in levels of engagement.

For example, over the first 11 weeks employees were nominated for 3,619 awards across 21 countries with a 90% approval rate. By December 2020, 33,788 awards had been sent. The online scheme automates the process for granting recognition awards, avoids the need for any paper filing (thus introducing operational efficiencies), and automatically collects management information, thereby providing the global team with an array of insightful data on performance and talent management.
